UX testing for collaborative environments
A new work dynamic was introduced in Amazon fulfillment centers, where robots work alongside humans. I designed and implemented test plans to evaluate the level of comfort when people shared the space with robots

The process
My team and I were evaluating the use of a space in the warehouse that would be newly introduced. In this space, people and robots would be performing tasks at the same time. The goal was to understand if the design proposed was fitting for the tasks and if people would be comfortable using the designated space.
01
Evaluating the current system
To understand what we needed to test, I collaborated with engineers from the solutions team, understanding their current proposed design of the system.
02
Design the test plan
During the test design phase, I defined all the variables that needed to be tested, the procedures, and evaluation methods. Then I defined the acceptance criteria and testing timeline.
03
Layout of the physical design
Everything had been designed by solutions in a 2D model. To be able to test it with people, I replicated the design in our test site.
05
Executing the test
Throughout the test, I was present to take in user feedback and guide the subject through the test steps. After, I performed a survey, obtaining data to quantify the comfort level of the user.
04
Recruiting for test subjects
To obtain accurate and representative results, I developed a persona and recruited test subjects that fulfilled the criteria.
06
Analyze test results to share with stakeholders
I compiled all the test results and user feedback to share with solutions and other stakeholders. I shared my recommendations as a UX researcher to increase net promoter score.
