Safety Requirements for Proteus

Problem
Amazon Robotics is developing their first autonomous mobile robot. There are multiple elements inside the unit that must be tested for efficiency and performance.
Action
I developed safety requirement test plans for Autonomous Mobile Robot Proteus at Amazon Robotics for warehouse automation. I created these requirements by evaluating the sensors capabilities and following the functional safety standards. I created the test structures utilizing JAMA software tool for product development.
To evaluate this complex system, I communicated multiple times a week across different teams to discuss the product features and capabilities.
Result
After thorough evaluation of the product capabilities, I developed and coordinated safety certification documentation for external contractor review.

Proteus is designed to mainly lift carts and transport them

Proteus is able to align itself to position under the cart, the cart is then lifted and Proteus transports it.

To test the robot in a realistic environment, the team traveled to a test warehouse to observe performance of the robot.

When Proteus leaves a cart in a designated spot, it lowers the carts and drives off to another mission.
